DESCRIPTION:The Fredericksburg/King George workshop will be open on Tuesday\, December 13\, 2022 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Please come by to pick up fabric or yarn or to drop off your completed projects. \nThe address is 1320 Central Park Blvd.\, Fredericksburg\, VA.  Parking is behind the building.  Enter from the double doors from the parking lot.  Entry to Suite 108 is from the rear parking lot.  Look for signs and balloons.  If you only want to drop off items and not enter the workshop\, use the front door from the street side.  Be advised that parking is limited there. \nWe have a great variety of holiday themed fabric and yarn to select from.  Bring a Kroger sized bag to gather your items as we have very few bags. \nCurrently\, we need hats\, scarves\, blankets\, port seatbelt pillows\, fingerless mitts and dialysis mitts. \nLooking forward to seeing you. \nHappy Stitche!

Children have returned to school and the requests are starting to come in so they are ready for the cooler temperatures.\n\nIf you want to pick up supplies. I will need the following information from you by Thursday 9/9 by 5:00 PM. SUMMARY:Donation Daze - June 5th\, rain date June 12th
DESCRIPTION:Donation Daze – June 5th\, 2021\n(formally Dollar Daze) \nAs you are most likely aware\, because of COVID-19\, we are trying something a little different for our Donation Daze (formally Dollar Daze) event this year.  We will be holding the event outside on Saturday June 5th with a rain date of Saturday June 12. It will be a one-day only event and will start at 11:00am and end at 4:00pm.  The event will be held in the parking lot of The Institute for Perception\, 7629 Hull Street Road in the Pocoshock Square Office Park.  7629 Hull St. Rd.\, is conveniently located near the intersection of routes 150 and 360 in Chesterfield County and does not front onto 360 but\, rather\, onto Pocoshock Way. There is an Apple Door Systems store on the corner at the light where you will make your turn onto Pocoshock Blvd. \nIf you are traveling E (towards Richmond city) on Route 360 (Hull St. Rd)\, you will turn right onto Pocoshock Blvd. If travelling W (away from the city)\, you will turn left.  Then\, turn left  onto Pocoshock Way. Take the second or third left into the parking lot and walk down to where you will see the Donation Daze set-up.  Here is a link to the building for those who would like to get turn-by-turn directions. \nDonation Daze is an event when we make all the really nice\, high quality yarn that has been donated to From the Heart available to our membership\, for use in their personal projects\, for a suitable donation. These are silks and other natural fibers that we cannot use in the commission of From the Heart’s mission.  There is no suggested donation\, and you will give whatever you consider to be a reasonable donation. We do hope people will be as generous as they have been in past years as every cent donated to From the Heart via Donation Daze is spent on acrylic yarn that we CAN use in the creation of items to be given to our recipients. It is a real win-win event.  Please note that we cannot accept credit cards and cannot make change as you just pop your donation directly into the box. \nThe workshop will not be open on the day we hold this event so that all members\, who want to\, can attend. \nIf you have questions\, don’t hesitate to contact a Board member\, or contact Tricia\, by phone\, at (804)683-9015 or email triciaennis2014@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Dances With Wool Give Back Saturday to Benefit From the Heart
DESCRIPTION:Dances With Wool\, the local yarn shop located in Sycamore Square in Midlothian hosts a Give Back Saturday once a month. \nSaturday\, May 29th is the day for May’s event and Dances with Wool has designated From the Heart as its recipient for May. You might want to consider using this event as a “two-for-one”\, i.e.\, buying that yarn you need while also supporting From the Heart.  10% of sales made on May 29th will be donated to From the Heart by Dances. \nMany thanks to Debbie Floyd of Dances With Wool for her constant support\, in many way\, of From the Heart.  Dances With Wool will be a vendor at our Retreat on October 2nd\, assuming we do not need to postpone the Retreat.

DESCRIPTION:We still have an ongoing need for hats to fit newborn infants. These hats should fit over a 5″ Styrofoam ball\, which means the brim should measure about 16″ around. These hats also need to be long enough to cover a baby’s ears. The brim can always be folded back so the main concern is that they are not too short. Currently\, the local hospitals are looking for as many as 750+ per month. You will find patterns on the website HERE.\n\nAnother need we have is for non-slip off (horseshoe) shawls and there are patterns for those on the website too. The need for soft toys\, 12″ cotton squares\, and 8″ acrylic squares continues but please note that you should feel free to create whatever you desire. We can find an outlet for just about anything.\n\nYarn for all these items is available\, in a contact-less\, fashion outside the front of the workshop at these drop-off/pick-up events\, as are teddy bears\, fabric\, From the Heart tags\, and plastic bags for your future use.\n\nBelow is your unique link to make an appointment this Sunday to select yarn\, other than what is listed above\, for future From the Heart projects. DESCRIPTION:From the Heart\, Fredericksburg “Waste Not” Workshop\, Yarn Swap\nand Fredericksburg Donation Daze \nDate/Time: Postponed until August 1st \nPlace: Ruritan Building\, 5994 Plank Rd\, Fredericksburg  (Between Battlefield Dental and the Fire Station just east of Andora Drive on Rt. 3.) \nWe will have yarn\, patterns and help available. We are going to do a yarn swap – bring those skeins you don’t like and swap for something you would like to work with. \nIs there something you need help with? Bring it with you and we will find someone to help you. Something you want to learn? Let me know asap and we will try to add a class for that topic or find someone to assist you. \nSee how leftovers can make up into useful beautiful items. All items completed will be delivered to various groups in the community. \nThe concept for the Fredericksburg Donation Daze is the same as Richmond. We have many items which have been donated to From the Heart but which we can’t really make good use of in our work of serving our communities. A few of the items we will have available are knitting needles\, pattern books and magazines\, and a variety of very nice yarns. The Donation Daze event means the suggested donation for each and every skein of yarn in the event will be $2.00. \nCome and help yourself to something nice and help From the Heart not only clean up the supply but have a few more dollars available to purchase yarn we can use to make items we can donate to those who need them. \nBring your tools and a dish to share and come for a fun filled day! You can come for the day or just an hour or two\, just don’t miss the fun. \nPlates\, napkins\, cups\, bowls\, utensils\, coffee\, hot tea and bottled water will be provided. The building has a large kitchen for our use. DESCRIPTION:What do you need to do to start work on your shawl? \n\nPick a bag from one of the two areas in the workshop where they are available\nPick a pattern from the binder on the shelf on the rack in the front of the workshop and make a copy of it on the printer\nTake your bag home\nOpen the bag\, reach in and pick a ball of yarn at random\nWhen the ball is done\, reach in and pick another ball at random\nContinue in this fashion until shawl is complete\nAttach From the Heart tag (included in the bag) to your shawl\nReturn finished shawl to bag\nSeal bag and return to the workshop by February 29th\, 2020\n\n\nThese shawls\, when complete\, will be given to wherever the need is greatest at the time we open the bags.  We don’t have a date yet but are thinking about having a “reveal” at the workshop in the early part of March.  It is always such fun to see what beautiful items are created by using leftover yarns of different colors and fibers\, especially when the process of creating the item has been random to begin with. \nPatterns:\n\nKnit Shawl #1\n\nKnit Shawl #2\n\nKnit Shawl #3\n\nShort Row Knit Shawl\n\nCrocheted Shawl\n\nCrocheted Short Row Shawl

We are going to do a yarn swap – bring those skeins you don’t like and swap for something you would like to work with.\n\nIs there something you need help with? Bring it with you and we will find someone to help you. Something you want to learn\, let me know asap and we will try to add a class for that topic.\n\nSee how leftovers can make up into useful beautiful items. All items completed will be delivered to various groups in the community.\n\nBring your tools and a dish to share and come for a fun filled day! You can come for the day for just an hour or two just don’t miss the fun.\n\nPlates\, napkins\, cups\, bowls\, utensils\, coffee\, hot tea and bottled water will be provided. SUMMARY:Double Dollar Daze Event - Saturday\, September 8th from 10am until 2pm and Sunday\, September 9th from 1pm until 4pm
DESCRIPTION:Due to the volume of nice yarn on hand\, it was agreed at the From the Heart Board Meeting\, to schedule a “Double Dollar Daze” that would be held two days in a row. Saturday. September 8th (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) and Sunday\, September 9th (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm) are the scheduled dates.  For those who are not familiar with the concept of Dollar Daze\, From the Heart receives quite an amount of yarn during the year which is not suitable for the work we do (silks\, mohair\, cashmere\, linen and so forth). We categorize this yarn and\, in some cases\, mark it with its original price.  Once or twice a year\, we offer this yarn to our members for a donation.  Depending on the yarn\, we sometimes suggest a donation of approximately 1/3 the original but we also offer quite a lot for a suggested donation of $1/skein.  With the money we receive at these events\, we purchase acrylic yarn which we can use for our clients.  We will also have needles\, hooks\, accessories\, and books on hand.\n\nAlso to be offered are Grab Bags since they were well received at the Retreat.  As with the bags offered at the Retreat\, the suggested donation per bag is $1.\n\n\nThe hours are: \n\nSaturday.
