DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to announce a new quilting block demonstration with Sheddy Reese.  Many of you participated in the first quilting block class with her previously and were very successful in completing your first lap quilt donated to FtH.  Even participants who had no sewing experience said that the class was excellent and hoped for another opportunity to learn another technique. \nPlease plan to join Sheddy in the Richmond workshop’s sewing department on Tuesday\, July 23rd.  Demos will take place at 11:00 am\, 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm.  You will be able to take home enough strips to make 4 blocks.  And we will show you how to cut enough strips to complete your quilt for donation.  Lots of beautiful fabric is available.  Space is limited to 6 people per session and we are asking participants to sign up in advance using this link.  Be sure to “Save & Continue” to enter your name and other details when signing up.

DESCRIPTION:From the Heart is very fortunate that our local yarn shops (LYS) and other members donate their very nice yarns to us.  Since we cannot use yarn that can’t be machine washed and dried\, we like to make these lovely selections available to our members for a fair donation.  A 30% to 50% of the original cost of the yarn is considered a fair donation for quality yarns. \nThis exciting spring event will be held on Sunday\, April 28th from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm in the alley behind the FtH workshop at 1114 Westbriar Drive in Henrico.  Easy access is through the white gate to the west of the Empanadas Market\, next door to FtH.  Rain date TBD. \nYour donations from this event will help us purchase acrylic and cotton yarn and fabrics for our shelves and your next project.  Sorry\, no cards – just cash or checks\, please. \nBring your friends and plan for an exciting day filled with fun\, fellowship\, and fiber!

DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar and save the date – Saturday\, October 7\, 2023.  It will be here before you blink. Once again\, we will hold our Retreat at The Place at Innsbrook located at 4036-C Cox Road in Glen Allen 23060.  Doors will open at 9:30 am and the festivities will begin at 10:00 am. \n“We Walk Better Together” is the theme that Rebecca Kennedy and team have been developing.  This team never fails to stun us with their beautiful decorations.  This theme is truly on point – especially in today’s environment. We like to think that what we do at FtH fosters sharing and caring with our recipient partners.  It is a lovely message to share and execute in our everyday lives no matter our membership status. \nWe have already received some adorable raffle items. Stay tuned for photos in future newsletters. Of course\, we will have a great line-up of speakers and vendors to satisfy your personal wants and your holiday gift giving. \nRegistration will begin July 1st and close on September 15th. The registration fee will be determined based on 2023 rates at The Place when we are closer to July 1st.  At this time\, we anticipate capping attendance at 125 with 8 people to a table. Classes and live demonstrations are being planned that will entice your creative spirit.

SUMMARY:Let's Get Scrappy Contest
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Richmond workshop at 1114 Westbriar Drive and select only yarn that is not a skein but a “scrap ball” size. “Your mission\, should you choose to accept it”\, (a little “Mission Impossible” theme music inserted here)\, is to make a colorful FtH project item using only FtH’s scrap cotton\, cotton blend\, acrylic or acrylic blend yarn. So\, be sure to go BOLD with your color choices. \nFirst\, take a photo of the scrap balls you are taking and send to fromtheheartstitchers@gmail.com with your name\, phone number and email address.  Then\, when your project is complete\, send a second email with a picture along with a description of the project\, pattern used\, or any other information that our members would like to know.  We’ll be posting entries on our Facebook page for everyone to enjoy. \nIf you need help with taking photos\, we will be happy to help you at the workshop.  We have many pattern ideas on our website here.  Some easy projects to consider are horseshoe shaped shawls\, hats\, red\, white\, and blue squares or any color squares\, fidget items\, toys\, baby blankets\, etc.  Make something that you enjoy working on.  You can enter as many times as you like in either category. \nWe will have a random drawing of one crochet project and one knit project at the conclusion of the contest.    The winner will be announced at the October 7th Retreat.  Winners need not be present to win. \nThe contest is open from July 25th until September 30th so don’t delay! SUMMARY:Fredericksburg Spring Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Details will be available soon for this event\, planned for Tuesday May 30th.  This will replace the former meeting place at the Ruritan. Note: this is not going to be a pot-luck and attendees should bring their own lunch or dine at Chancellor’s Village’s restaurant for a very reasonable cost. The Village is providing a large meeting room for free and there will not be a need to have a donation box. Again\, members from all areas are invited to attend this Fredericksburg based event.

DESCRIPTION:The Fredericksburg/King George workshop will be open on Tuesday\, December 13\, 2022 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Please come by to pick up fabric or yarn or to drop off your completed projects. \nThe address is 1320 Central Park Blvd.\, Fredericksburg\, VA.  Parking is behind the building.  Enter from the double doors from the parking lot.  Entry to Suite 108 is from the rear parking lot.  Look for signs and balloons.  If you only want to drop off items and not enter the workshop\, use the front door from the street side.  Be advised that parking is limited there. \nWe have a great variety of holiday themed fabric and yarn to select from.  Bring a Kroger sized bag to gather your items as we have very few bags. \nCurrently\, we need hats\, scarves\, blankets\, port seatbelt pillows\, fingerless mitts and dialysis mitts. \nLooking forward to seeing you. \nHappy Stitche!

SUMMARY:Donation Daze is Sunday\, November 13\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Is your calendar blocked for Sunday\, November 13th?  Double check as you will not want to miss this Donation Daze event from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  We have been extremely blessed with many generous donations from several local yarn shops and individuals who donated large amounts of fabulous\, high-quality yarn.  We are not able to use these donations in our charity projects but we can share the bounty with our dedicated members. \nDue to our 501(c)3 status\, we are prohibited from “selling” items.  But as members you are welcomed to donate what you feel is a reasonable amount for the yarn selections you make based on what the actual retail amount would be. \nFor this particular event\, the workshop will not be open.  All yarn will be available in the alley behind the workshop.  Cars will not be permitted to drive through the alley so plan to park in the shopping center across the street or in our parking lot.  Also\, consider parking at either end of the building but not in a manner that will block other vehicles.  Our delicious “neighbor”\, The Empanadas Market\, will be open that day.  Therefore\, we ask that you kindly consider leaving several parking places open for their customers in front of their business. \nThere will be volunteers placed at each end of the alley to prohibit vehicle traffic.  Once you have made your yarn selections\, and Grab Bag selections you may make your donation at the donation table.  You will be given a “ticket” that indicates you have made your donations which you will provide to the volunteers at either end of the alley.  This method will help us determine how many people participated and help us with the planning of future events.  See you then!

DESCRIPTION:Dear From the Heart Volunteers: \nThe Fredericksburg Workshop\, located at 1320 Central Park Blvd\, #108\, Fredericksburg\, VA will be available to our membership on Tuesday\, October 25\, 2022\, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. In order to select the yarn of your choice and to drop off your completed and tagged projects\, you must sign up by using this link:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090C48ACAA23A0F49-fredericksburg. Be sure to select “Submit” once you have selected your time slot. \nAppointments are for 15 minutes and only 7 people will be allowed during each 15-minute segment. Masks are required to enter the space. \nParking is behind the building.
