SUMMARY:Let's Get Scrappy Contest
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Richmond workshop at 1114 Westbriar Drive and select only yarn that is not a skein but a “scrap ball” size. “Your mission\, should you choose to accept it”\, (a little “Mission Impossible” theme music inserted here)\, is to make a colorful FtH project item using only FtH’s scrap cotton\, cotton blend\, acrylic or acrylic blend yarn. So\, be sure to go BOLD with your color choices. \nFirst\, take a photo of the scrap balls you are taking and send to fromtheheartstitchers@gmail.com with your name\, phone number and email address.  Then\, when your project is complete\, send a second email with a picture along with a description of the project\, pattern used\, or any other information that our members would like to know.  We’ll be posting entries on our Facebook page for everyone to enjoy. \nIf you need help with taking photos\, we will be happy to help you at the workshop.  We have many pattern ideas on our website here.  Some easy projects to consider are horseshoe shaped shawls\, hats\, red\, white\, and blue squares or any color squares\, fidget items\, toys\, baby blankets\, etc.  Make something that you enjoy working on.  You can enter as many times as you like in either category. \nWe will have a random drawing of one crochet project and one knit project at the conclusion of the contest.    The winner will be announced at the October 7th Retreat.  Winners need not be present to win. \nThe contest is open from July 25th until September 30th so don’t delay! Get your scrappy\, bright colors and start stitching! \nSee a great sample scrap blanket (to the right) made by Beth Williamson from cotton scraps.  Very bright and colorful!

DESCRIPTION:The Fredericksburg/King George workshop will be open on Tuesday\, December 13\, 2022 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Please come by to pick up fabric or yarn or to drop off your completed projects. \nThe address is 1320 Central Park Blvd.\, Fredericksburg\, VA.  Parking is behind the building.  Enter from the double doors from the parking lot.  Entry to Suite 108 is from the rear parking lot.  Look for signs and balloons.  If you only want to drop off items and not enter the workshop\, use the front door from the street side.  Be advised that parking is limited there. \nWe have a great variety of holiday themed fabric and yarn to select from.  Bring a Kroger sized bag to gather your items as we have very few bags. \nCurrently\, we need hats\, scarves\, blankets\, port seatbelt pillows\, fingerless mitts and dialysis mitts. \nLooking forward to seeing you. \nHappy Stitche!

DESCRIPTION:Is your calendar blocked for Sunday\, November 13th?  Double check as you will not want to miss this Donation Daze event from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  We have been extremely blessed with many generous donations from several local yarn shops and individuals who donated large amounts of fabulous\, high-quality yarn.  We are not able to use these donations in our charity projects but we can share the bounty with our dedicated members. \nDue to our 501(c)3 status\, we are prohibited from “selling” items.  But as members you are welcomed to donate what you feel is a reasonable amount for the yarn selections you make based on what the actual retail amount would be. \nFor this particular event\, the workshop will not be open.  All yarn will be available in the alley behind the workshop.  Cars will not be permitted to drive through the alley so plan to park in the shopping center across the street or in our parking lot.  Also\, consider parking at either end of the building but not in a manner that will block other vehicles.  Our delicious “neighbor”\, The Empanadas Market\, will be open that day.  Therefore\, we ask that you kindly consider leaving several parking places open for their customers in front of their business. \nThere will be volunteers placed at each end of the alley to prohibit vehicle traffic.  Once you have made your yarn selections\, and Grab Bag selections you may make your donation at the donation table.  You will be given a “ticket” that indicates you have made your donations which you will provide to the volunteers at either end of the alley.  This method will help us determine how many people participated and help us with the planning of future events.  See you then!

We will have our Informational Brochure\, our Newsletter\, and copies of a few patterns with us\, for those who might wish to create something for From the Heart in the future. We may also bring along a few samples of the items we create for donation to various places. \nMembers should please contact Tricia Ennis if you have an hour or so on Saturday\, July 9th and would like to be part of spreading the news about From the Heart into our community. DESCRIPTION:From the Heart members may be interested in reducing their stashes by participating in Dances With Wool Yarn Yard Sale.  The event\, at Dances With Wool\, in the Sycamore Square Shopping Center\, runs until noon.  Vendors must supply their own tables and means of accepting payment.  Vendors are made aware that they have the option of any unsold yarn being donated to From the Heart.  This event has resulted in a very nice amount of yarn being donated to us in the past so\, if you have a large stash that you don’t have any particular interest in anymore\, why not kill three birds with one stone. \n\nMake yourself a bit of money through what you sell.\nDonate what you don’t sell to From the Heart.\nPotentially help a LYS by taking a tempting look at their inventory.\n\nSeems like a win-win-win situation. \nContact Debbie at Dances With Wool for more information. DESCRIPTION:We have scheduled our next Drop off/pickup at the Ruritan for Tuesday 05/10/22 from 10-12. Masks are required to enter the building. \nThe Ruritan generously allows t o use the building at no charge although it is typically $100 to rent the facility. If anyone would like to donate to the Ruritan\, we will have a donation box available to help offset their expenses for our use of the building (electricity\, etc.). \nThe current needs are as follows: however\, as we always say\, make what you enjoy making. \n\nCotton washcloths – Please DO NOT tag (tags are in the bags with the toiletries)\nHats of all sizes\n\nWhile these two are our biggest need\, we could also use: \n\nBlankets – no smaller than 32”x32” and as large as twin bed size (baby\, kids\, men & women))\nTotes – walker and wheelchair\n\nWe will be open for receiving finished items and picking up supplies only – from 10:00am – noon. \nOur drop off next month will be Tuesday June 14th!  More information to follow. \nAs you know the Ruritan is very supportive of From the Heart\, so you may like to support them. The Ruritan holds a yard sale twice a year. The funds raised are used to provide scholarships. The spring yard sale will be held at the Ruritan on Friday May 6th 7am – 4pm and Saturday May 7th from 7am – noon.
