FTH thanks you for considering us for your donation. We hope this list will be helpful as a guide to what, generally, can best be used for FTH projects. We also publish a list of our current most needed items in our monthly newsletter, the Grateful Thread. Please check on our Home Page for a link to the latest newsletter. 

From the Heart Preferred Donations

  • Yarn: Acrylic, Cotton, Blends, Etc. (Full skeins, cakes, balls fist size or larger)
  • Fabric: Cotton, Fleece, Flannel, Lightweight Upholstery (Fat quarters (18”x21”) or larger)
  • Velcro
  • Quilt Batting
  • Polyester Fiberfill
  • Men’s Dress Shirts
  • Circular Knitting Needles
  • Crochet Hooks
  • New Stuffed Animals
  • New Baby Dolls (16” or larger)

  • Home Goods (curtains, tablecloths, sheets, towels, etc.)
  • Clothing, except for men’s dress shirts

  • Straight Knitting Needles

***The organizations listed below are non-profit charity organizations that are within 3 miles of FTH. These organizations are good options for donating items that are not practical for FTH projects.

Highlights of the 46,231 total items donated in 2025!

Below are a few of our amazing accomplishments for 2024!  

  • FtH members sewed 1,572 pillowcases for children in hospitals and the USO to brighten their day
  • Dialysis patients received 2,449 items including blankets, mitts/sleeves, pillows, shawls, and hats to keep them warm
  • 387 infant demise sets, and 107 children’s blankets/quilts were lovingly created as comfort items for hospitals, Skylar’s Love Mission, and Comfort Zone Camp
  • Memory care and Assisted Living residents received 4,590 items including blankets, shawls, fidgets, wheelchair/walker totes, bibs, hats, and scarves
  • 5,012 items were sewn, knitted, and crocheted for oncology/hospice patients
  • The greater Richmond community (adults and children) received 11,101 hats, scarves, shawls, blankets, soap sacks, toys, and sweaters
  • FtH created 5,945 adult hats and 7,700 infant/child hats in 2024!
